Health insurance started during the Civil war and the original ones only offered coverage against accidents related from travel by boat or rails.
In 1929, the first modern health insurance plan was created. It was formed by a group of teachers in Dallas, Texas, contracted with Baylor Hospital room and medical services in trade with a monthly fee.
